So for all you folks who are thinking about a lower cost fun and funky retreat for your tribe – I have the perfect location for you! (And the lower cost allows you to add in a great net for you.)

Part hostel, part hotel, part adult summer camp – the Freehand Miami (there’s one in Chicago too) ranks VERY high on the cool factor chart! The entry is papered with vintage travel ads for Miami, the courtyard is studded with mid-century modern patio furniture — and the rooms are comfortable both as privates, quads or super 8’s!

So for example, if you had 8 people in the super 8 room you see below it would cost around $35 per person per night. Yup, you did read that correctly. The room does have one shared bath for the room so it that’s over the top get a few quad rooms to solve that issue!

• Art walk meets bar crawl on “Second Saturdays” for The Wynwood Art Walk (WAW). What humbly began as a small collaboration of artists has now grown to more than 60+ galleries strong.

They have a fabulous onsite restaurant AND one of the most popular bars in Miami is located right inside the hotel — The Broken Shaker (below) which features specialty handcrafted cocktails made with elixirs, syrups, and infusions made from garden herbs and spices, and fresh-pressed produce and exotic ingredients from around the world.

This kind of place is not for everyone – but I can definitely see this hotel being an absolute blast for those who are younger and want that special vibrant hip environment for their event.
