Most folks when they think of Peru – immediately think of Machu Picchu and running a retreat to the highlands. But the Amazon spends plenty of time in Peru and you can easily combine traveling to both locations in one stunning journey.
One of the most beautiful ways of traveling the Amazon is by cruising on a small ship. Very small. And one of my favorite boats is the Aqua Amazon!
Custom built for Aqua Expeditions by leading Peruvian architect Jordi Puig to explore the Amazon in the utmost comfort, the 40 meter (130 foot) long Aqua Amazon set sail in 2008.
The Aqua Amazon incorporates extremely generous lounging and dining areas, and can accommodate a maximum of 24 guests plus crew. Delicious food is served – carefully created and gorgeous to look at.
Generous picture windows face the Amazon River (with blackout windows for maximum privacy) in each of the Aqua Amazon’s 12 deluxe suites, of which four are Master Suites. Perfect for observing the starlit skies!
Handsomely decorated with natural fibers and neutral hues these air-conditioned accommodations with en suite sitting areas and stone bathrooms.
Wildlife abounds and there is something magical appearing at every turn – including the beautiful pink dolphins!
It’s an extremely intimate environment that affords you and your group insight into a part of the world that is changing fast (unfortunately) and desperately needs preserving – like with the work being done to restore the Taricaya turtle population.
